My after work sounds exactly like yours.
So if I want to get any exercise, it has to be when the kids are asleep. If I try and do anything active at night, I can't fall asleep. So I opt to get up 40 minutes early. Although, since I'm a wildlife biologist my spring and summer schedule can get a bit crazy. For the rest of the week, my alarm is set for 2:40 am to do some endangered bird surveys.
