Nashty has it right, why do some continue to push the notion of 351 basketball
teams are the same compared to 124 football teams?

Do you know that there are 32 basketball conferences? This year and most years there are only about 12 that have any teams worthy of an at-large bid. That means 20 conferences or roughly 180 schools that are largely irrelevant.

Roughly 130 of those "other" schools have football, they just play division FCS. Why aren't they compared regarding football? Because the divisions were separated as some teams clearly couldn't compete?

There is no doubt that there are more competitive college basketball teams than college football teams. That comes largely from only needing 5 players to field a team. But the competitive teams in college basketball goes from 124 to about 160 or 170. Not anywhere close to 351.

Put one last way: BYU is ridiculed and scorned about the possibility of playing Wagner College in football. It is said that they are beneath us in football and it is a ridiculous game (from a competitive standpoint this is true). Yet now you are giving Dave Rose and BYU credit for being better than them in basketball?
