I had the opportunity to meet buzzard in real life
Indy's post below was excellent, and expressed the sentiment I've had about many people on here. There are are people here who I consider friends, who have gone to great lengths to help me out or who have inspired me in some way through a story they have shared. Buzzard inspired me with a simple comment in a political exchange back in August.

Well, I will, barring an accident, die in great pain the last few weeks of my life as metastatic disease crushes my organs and possibly bones. I'm frankly not looking forward to that a lot. As such, I have contemplated the morality of cutting short my time in mortality and concluded that just like the prophets and scriptures and GHOI say, it's not my life to cut short, but the Lord's. I'll put up with the pain for however long he sees fit to keep me around. And so yes...that IS my humble opinion. But it is not one lightly arrived at.

I read that, and I was really taken aback. I boardmailed him to see if he wouldn't mind sharing more of his story. I was impressed with his positive attitude while knowing the end was near. I admired his strength. I especially took notice of his love for his family, and his desire to take care of them. He was an example of how I hoped I would act if I were ever in a similar situation.

He was also a Cougar fan through and through. He told me at the time he was hoping just to make it to November so he could see a few more games with his family. I told him I would love to meet him, so he told me where he sat at the football games. Hopefully I can be forgiven for posting this, but this is the photo he texted me so I would recognize him.

We chatted for a few minutes. We laughed about silly things, including exchanges on Cougarbaord. I met his daughter, who was also a BYU fan. I shook his hand and wished him good luck.

It was a small interaction, just a few minutes time, but it had a lasting impact on me.
