If they want in the club, they have to earn their way in. All of the other metrics match up. But they need to win on big stages and not lose to teams they should beat. Miami got into the club years ago because they made national noise. Now it helped that they are located in a huge media market. But before the late 1970s they were nothing. They are still a very small school. But they have national appeal because they built up a winning brand. BYU is still living off of its one national championship and a close call in 1996. Otherwise we haven't proven anything. I don't think we will get invited until we have proven something like win a New Year's Bowl Game. I am not suggesting that BYU follow Miami's model. I think the Honor Code would get into the way. But getting into a P5 is all talk until we have really proven something.
