Elite Coaches, BYU, and the rest of College football
Everyone expects their school to have an elite coach-- one that is truly a step above, great recruiter, great x's and o's guy, great with media, great with kids, etc. and most of all - winner. There are many good coaches out there-- but very few of what I would call elite. Here are mine in no particular order

-- Gary Patterson- TCU. Small school, small fan base, small stadium, swims with the big boys in a competitive state recruiting environment. One of only two coaches in the history of the ncaa to have the best defense in college football for three straight years. But also recruits speed, athletes and gets the most out of them with fun offense. We like to tease towell boy on here, but I think he is elite.
-- Urban Meyer--OSU. I love to hate him as much as anyone, but he does win everywhere he goes. EVERYWHERE. He recruits like crazy, great staffs, and gets great talent. To win the national championship with his third string QB- simply amazing. Only knock is he leaves the cupboard bare when he leaves a school and does not build decades long legacies.
-- Art Briles, Baylor-- to take a team that had not been to a bowl game in forever and make them a contender is pretty special. Fun football and likeable.
-- Sabin, Alabama-- Not much to say here other than he is in contention every year and did it at other places too. Might not win it every year, but he is rarely outcoached or out recruited

My point is also that there are many many schools that do not have elite coaching, either. I think the jury is still out for me on Jimbo Fisher. I am not sure about Oregon or any other Pac-12 team yet. But BYU getting a truly elite coach is not likely because any school getting one is not likely. (THis is not an advocacy to keep Bronco becuase he is the best we can get, good enough etc.).

Am I missing anyone or who would you add?
