I'm taking my son there in a couple of weeks for his graduation present, and just before he goes on his mission. We're going to AK because we've never been there, and it sounds cool. First day, we plan to drive up to Denali, see the mountain, and spend the night. There's a shuttle bus that goes into the park--is it worth doing? And how far? You pay to go to different stations. Or, do we have as much potential to see wildlife/natural beauty by just driving up to Denali from Anchorage?

Next, what do we do after that? We have 4 days. I thought we could do deep sea fishing out of Homer. Anything else? I don't know what to do there, and just wanted suggestions. I have a cousin that lives in Anchorage, and she said AK is amazing, but wasn't big on going to Denali National Park, and didn't suggest much other than sailing or deep sea fishing.
