I Nick is a more the type of PG you describe than BYU had in past.

Nick Emery needs to improve some things, but I see him as an upgrade at PG for BYU since. . . ? Jimmer?

At the very least, Nick is going to be good enough that it won't be a glaring weakness, IMO.
