I agree with most everything that was said by Mr. Haddow. The one thing that I will add when it comes to Zac Seljaas is this, Emery and Fisher have people coming out and setting screens for them, which allows them to drive to the basket in most cases or frees up the jumper. Here you have, IMO the best shooter on the team in Seljaas with no help whatsoever as far as picks/screens to free up his shot or allow him to drive to the basket. So all that he is getting in the flow of the offense are kick outs or trailer passes or defensive breakdowns. The reason he doesn't take it to the hole isn't due to a lack of ability, he played PG last year for the 4A champions (and I know the level of play is completely different in the D1 vs. HS), but it shows he has handles and can drive to the hole if he was allowed to do so in the offensive scheme. Now that teams are keying in on him and playing him tighter, some offensive adjustments would be nice to see to help free up his shot more often. The ability to adjust hasn't always been Coach Rose's strong suit on either side of the ball IMO. In the games that we get relegated to running a half-court offense, there needs to be constant screening to free up KC to drive to the hole and either finish or dish to the shooters, it would free up NE/CF/ZS to take better shots and not have to force shots by driving then spotting up for a mid-range jumper, which they can all hit easily. I would like to see NE/CF spot up for a short jumper or runner in the lane vs. driving it into the teeth of the defense and getting stuffed by 3 trees in the lane. This team has the offensive firepower to outscore teams, they just need to play better as a team and open it up more with unselfish play.
