You all have heard about the earthquakes in Ecuador and the destruction there. I've been keeping tabs on it because the area I served in was heavily damaged. I saw a post on my FB newsfeed looking for translators for the doctors in one town--they were hoping to get the missionaries, but didn't know how to contact them.
I got in touch with my buddy in Ecuador who is a former stake president. He talked to the mission president, but the pres. says it's too dangerous to send the missionaries into that area right now. However, they are contacting members from a nearby stake, and my buddy actually got a volunteer to head out (his son, who speaks English).
I haven't been able to do much to help other than donate funds, but that doesn't seem like much. This time I actually was able to do something real.
