What I like: There is a renewed commitment towards recruiting and Sitake actually likes to recruit and puts in a ton of time with the rest of the staff.
What I don't like: Too many offers. I don't mind offering guys early (although a sophomore punter, really?), but when you are extending so many offers how do you focus on the guys who are actually interested in coming to BYU. It is true that if you offer 100 guys that only have a 2% chance of coming you will get 2 of them. But do you still get the 5 on the fence between you and Utah? To this point we have a small number of commitments for the 2017 class. It is a concern in my eyes as we normally have a bunch by this time of year.
I am trying to stay optimistic, but when you are focusing on 100 players in a class instead of 30 it seems difficult to give them the attention they are getting from other sources. I recognize this is the way Alabama recruits, but I also recognize our brand name isn't that of Alabama's.
I am not calling out Sitake as I definitely believe he has the right and should run the program/recruiting how he thinks is best. I am just worried with where we sit 8 1/2 months from signing day.
