experiences in the last 6 months. The first was when I was the first on the scene of an accident. A car had side-swiped another on a highway in the suburbs. Both cars went off the road and crashed into a large hedge. I called 911 and made sure no one was badly injured. We then waited for 45 minutes for a police officer to come and file a report. In that time both parties in the crash had family members show up at the scene. That's a pretty piss poor response time.
Then this morning my wife was rear ended on the way to work on a busy city street in Houston just off a major toll road. She's been waiting for 30 minutes and still no officer. She is talking about just wanting to exchange insurance information and go to work. Why does it always seem like police officers with radar scanners are everywhere, but as soon as you need one they are nowhere to be found? I know that a sample size of two doesn't make a trend, and that I am probably overreacting because today's incident involves my wife. I guess a "minor" accident isn't a priority, but still...
