That's a solid argument, thank you for elaborating.
I think one could argue that true parity also does not exist in cfb considering the disparity in athletic dept revenue and fundraising among schools. The bluebloods would largely stay on top but your example shows the model is not lock solid for them. However, I imagine recruiting could become a disaster for schools constantly flirting with relegation to a lower division, firther supporting your point. I think relegation would be wildly entertaining, but the schools have so much to lose if pushed down to lower divisions.
