What I like...
1) I love BYU fans' passion. We have a great fanbase, one of the best in the country. Let's make sure our passion is not misguided.
2) I love our new coaching staff. They are young and inexperienced, but I love these guys. We need to give them time. This is a rough schedule. We do not have the luxury of playing an MWC schedule anymore.
3) I love our team. These are young men who are giving their all to represent Cougar Nation. They need our support through thick and thin.
What I don't like....
1) Prideful fans. We need to learn to be humble and patient. I know...we have been somewhat in a wilderness the last few years. I know....Utah is performing well. We are jealous. But let's just remember it's a game. Every program has ups and downs. Think about how Texas fans feel these days. Or Penn State fans. When was the last time Penn State was relevant? How about Notre Dame? BYU will be up before we know it with this staff. They need time.
2) People always second guessing the coaches. Ty Detmer is not an idiot. This offense just needs some time.
3) Fans ripping on each other on this board. Let's have civil discussions without making it personal.
Now, before any of you rip me, I have been guilty of all of the above. Just check out my posting history. But I am trying to turn over a new leaf and be a better fan. One thing that has been helpful this year is to not post out of emotion. When I post out of emotion I write things that I later regret. There are many eyes directed at Cougarboard, including players, coaches and others. Some would say that the players need to have thicker skin. But how about the rest of us showing a little more charity and represent the Institution the way we should? Again, I am looking in the mirror and don't mean to sound too preachy.
