Root cause analysis of the BIG12 decision to stand pat.
At the core of the issue are two elements.

1. Texas did not want to extend the GOR into the future. This limited the attractiveness of expanding.

2. There was only one candidate (BYU) that was economically attractive enough for ESPN and FOX. ESPN and Fox pushed back without an extension of the GOR for the available candidates.

These two facts are the most important reasons why there is no change in the BIG12.

If there were two attractive candidates, expansion would have happened. For example: If Neb and BYU wanted in, it would have happened.

Yes it sucks for BYU, but this is more a reflection on Texas and the other candidates than of BYU.

Kevin, Tom and the BOT did all they could to get us in. They deserve appreciation and our thanks.
