She agreed to pay the retainer after I assured her I will refund the balance if the work doesn't require much time and out of pocket costs. I explained that the money stays in the firm's trust account until I either earn it or send it back to her.
I started work and deposited her check in the trust account. This morning she sent an indignant e-mail that I cashed the whole amount of the check even though I haven't done all the work. Lady, I can't cash part of a check. 😳
