For the first time, I attended the Cougar Club lunch as a card carrying member of the club.
Dave Rose gave some great insights. The first question was about UVU. He said that UVU was mentally ready for the game, and for various reasons, BYU wasn't. He said their schedule that week meant that they didn't really get to prepare for UVU. They got back at 3am on Thursday from the Vegas tournament, and then they all did Thanksgiving things. He blamed himself for that.

He also talked about the team needing mental toughness, and how that just comes with experience.

Last, he said that we actually have the best 3-pt defense on the conference, even if it doesn't always seem that way. Against St. Mary's, our game plan was to double up their young big guy, but he did a great job of pushing the ball back out to the 3-pt line that we had to abandon that. Then he beat us one on one down low.

It was great to hear from him and Coach Littlewood. I'm glad to be able (and allowed) to contribute to the program.

One last thing, though. The food was provided by IHC. Yippee, hospital food! The chicken sandwich I got was only cooked on the edges, the middle was raw. I hope this isn't the norm for Cougar Club lunches...
