Also...the baby boom generation of teachers, firefighters, cops and other public sector employees SUCKED the life's blood out of their professions...bled it dry with overly generous pension benefits. Nothing left to entice a replacement teacher to take their job over when the baby boomer retires with 70-80% of pay at age 58.
