I come from a family of teachers. I respect and honor what they do, but they chose that path. Everything has its tradeoffs. There's plenty of information on varying professions and you can leave and do something else if you think you aren't compensated appropriately.

No one is coming in giving me gifts during the special week or having the amount of sick days that can be used in that profession or having periods off for prep. I could go on at all of the upsides of teaching relative to being more in line with higher compensating jobs that require more hours, more stress, and more consistency of being on your game.
