Cox says that the retailers had a conversation with Governor Herbert. The retailers listed their demands and Herbert told them that he wanted to sit down with the retailers, the Utah delegation and the county commissioners to try and work something out. The retailers refused, said that this was unacceptable and ended the conversation. 5 minutes after they hung up the phone the retailers released a 2 page statement about the situation.
It really doesn't sound like these retailers care about what the locals think about public land. It is their way or the highway.
