Unfortunately that is not the case. Rose ABSOLUTELY has a leash and deserves one.
Is there accountability for he and the rest of the staff, of course. Does Tom Holmoe have metrics in which to review Coach Rose and his year in and year out performace, absolutely.
But you are incorrect, a veteran coach with a young team (at BYU) gets a bit of a pass. We are not at Kentucky or Duke. We don't have Coach K or Calipari. We have lesser talent on the bench both as players and coaches. So a young team at Duke or UK is probably still a top 25 team, this is not the case at BYU.
I get as frustrated as anyone when we don't play well against lesser talented teams, but every dog has his day once in a while (UVU) and we have to accept the fact that our talent level is not at the "elite" level with coaches or players.
Tom Holmoe and BYU are extremely pleased with 20+ win seasons, post season tournaments, and clean programs. I can't imagine them asking Rose to leave, he is not in the same league as Bronco was. The Bronco situation I know VERY well.
