We all want the same thing: A fantastic year when we break through and go undefeated. We expect that Kalani will eventually take us there. It may never realistically happen. Why?

Of all mid majors to go undefeated, which one played the most P5 teams? Utah. 2004. They played 3 in the regular season. And even with 3 BCS wins, it was very special. It put them on the map.

Us? Last year we had 6 P5 teams... Double the number of P5 teams that any mid major has ever played in any season. Like Utah, we beat 3 of them. But it was an average season.

We play between 4 and 6 P5 teams every year. Only we have a mid major budget and unique recruiting challenges.

Let's be realistic. Odds are against us.
