Urban Meyer on Aaron Hernandez
From a Washington Post article:

"As pro teams considered whether drafting him was worth the risk, then-coach Urban Meyer and his staff warned that it was “crucial that Hernandez be surrounded by the right people,” according to NFL.com. The coaches tried to keep him from returning home to Connecticut and worried when his friends there came to Gainesville on game weekends."

Obviously Meyer couldn't predict that Hernandez would turn out the way he did, but it looked like he knew Hernandez had significant problems during his time at Florida and was even questioned in a murder case he was the main suspect in during his freshman year. Hernandez was never suspended or formally disciplined. At what point does a coach become culpable for continued player misbehavior? Was keeping him in Gainesville and away from his Connecticut friends a net positive which justified his place on the team? I understand the mentality of winning comes first, but Urban Meyer knowing about these issues and then passing the buck on to whatever team drafted him seems unconscionable from an outside perspective.
