then the church/byu wouldn't have changed their policy.
they could have said "here's why we disagree with the trib story, and why we're not changing our approach." if they had done that, then their crocodile tears about not getting to comment in time would carry some weight, because it would prove that there was some merit or substance to why they had that policy in place.
as it was, the policy was without merit at all, and the church's/byu's complaints were merely procedural in nature. the fact that they changed their policy is a greater indication of the church's comment than anything carrie jenkins or anyone else could have said. it speaks volumes.
to byu's/church's credit, I think they've done a great job of changining the policy and the culture around it. that is a credit to both them, as well as to the investigative reporting of the trib.
