last year.
In his freshman year, he started out slowly, but had a really good second half of the season.
This last year, because of injuries, he was basically thrust into the role of the most "recent" experienced person out there. That's a big responsibility, and I don't think he was ready for it, simply because I don't think he'd been planning to be "the leader". He has big-time capability, but as his role needed to increase, so did the pressure. BYU wasn't performing well defensively, and you could see Emery working to step it up defensively, but the team collectively did not step up. And then, on the offensive side, we were struggling as well. And then you start pressing...
We saw what he's capable of during the last part of his freshman year. We saw his willingness to work on and improve his defensive effort. He can't do it alone; he'll need help. But I believe we'll see a much more complete player this year.
