Years ago, the morning show on a local radio station used to have a segment called "Despicable or Forgivable". The premise was people would call in and share their misdeeds, many of them kept secret, and the show's hosts would decide if the act was either despicable or forgivable. It was a pretty funny segment, and some of the things people would call in about were pretty crazy and funny, and it was apparent many of these people were seeking some sort of relief from guilt they'd been carrying around for years keeping these things secret.

They station only ran the segment a few times because soon legal got involved and put an end to it - turns out people were calling in with some serious misdeeds, many borderline illegal, if not outright illegal, and the show's producers were finding themselves in a situation where they questioned whether or not they had a legal obligation to contact the police.

Anyway, the point is, many people carry secrets around with them, many of them fairly dark.
