Great morning fishing on the Columbia. I spent about three and a half
hours fishing this morning fishing for smallmouth and caught 23 smallmouth and 3 largemouth. The weather was great and I had the area to myself. I caught most of the smallmouth on tubes, but caught a couple on a wacky rigged worm, and one each on a crankbait and a drop shot worm. The biggest smallmouth were around 2.5 lbs. I lost a bigger one on a crankbait. It was probably 3+ lbs and jumped clean out of the water. The duo-lock snap I had holding my crankbait either came open or I didn't close it right when I put the lure on and it swam away with it.

I caught all three largemouth on a wacky rigged worm in a connected body of water on the other side of the freeway. I saw several big largemouth, a couple better than five lbs. The biggest of the three I caught went 3.5 lbs. The water was pretty clear and if I tried to cast with 20 feet of the fish, they would scatter.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I was wearing camo cargo shorts. The fish didn't mind.

Stopped at a Taqueria in Bingen on the way home. They had a great sign on the sidewalk: I hate tacos.....said no Juan ever.
