this will motivate them to step up their game instead of dishing it down low and stand around and hope for the best. I think Yoeli is really good and is only going to get better. Dastrup may surprise us too once he's back in basketball shape.
I hope for the best for Mika and look forward to hearing his name called on Draft Day (I will be disappointed in his decision if his name isn't called). I can understand his decision. This is what's tough for BYU RM's. They get good and they want to get in the draft so that the stigma (which does exist among NBA and NFL scouts) of them being too old with little-to-no upside is detriment to their dreams. This is 100% why I believe Frank Jackson and Jabari Parker chose elsewhere and decided to not serve missions. If Jimmer served a mission his stock would've dropped too. Even in the NFL, players that are RM's likely don't get drafted (Harvey Langi vs Jamaal Williams?) Jamaal wasn't LDS but you get my point. If Mika succeeds then this could be good for LDS athletes who are trying to decide if a mission will hurt their chances or not. Maybe then we could get the Jackson and Parker type guys if he does. It'll be BYU's version of one-and-done.
