But they usually need to cut down the rushes to conserve their energy for defense because they're playing half the game, and usually against the other team's best forwards. Karlsson has continued to be an elite offensive defenseman as he is every regular season, all while anchoring the defense of a defensive team playing against a great group of forwards for 30 minutes a game. I think it's tough to at least make an argument right now that Doughty, Keith, Hedman or any other elite dman is better. But go Pens.
