I'm a huge Connor fan but sadly this decision shows he's merely a business man who happens to be a good fighter rather than a good fighter who happens to be a businessman.
I believe this fight hurts his legacy. Rather then defending his titles against top competition his focus has been on this fight. I understand the thinking... he'll likely make 50-75 million when it's all said and done but I wish while in his prime he could have done more to focus on his fighting legacy rather than focus on money. Obviously my viewpoint is strictly being a fan of MMA.
An MMA fighter only has so many chances to create and sustain his legacy before Father Time takes his toll. Connor's loss to Diaz, narrow win to an under trained Mendez, win against a less than impressive Alvarez doesn't help him much.
Oh well, he's still one of the most entertaining and charasmatic athletes of our generation.
