watching summer league last night
there are a fair number of people who thought Fultz should be the #1 overall pick and that D'Aaron Fox was the second best guard in the draft after Fultz - if that is true, and it may very well be, this crop of guards has a chance to be absolutely incredible.

I loved Dennis Smith coming out of NC state and it was clear early on that he had potential to be pretty great, but man, you watch him play and you wonder how its possible that he isn't clearly the best guard in the draft - Smith is must see TV. you just don't see young guards like him. scoring/shooting, passing, raw athleticism. had a missed dunk last night that was more impressive than most made dunks.

15 minutes after Smithjr finishes up, Lonzo Ball comes out and dominates the game with his all-around play, specifically his supernal ability to make guys better - make the game easy for teammates. its as if guys like Kuzma and Zubac would have to try to not be successful offensively playing with Ball. So then I'm wondering how on earth Ball isn't the best guard in the draft. Ball is must see TV - you don't see young guards with that kind of vision, precision passing and willingness to pass. oh and he rebounds, scores and makes plays on defense.

Fox and Fultz must be really good.

the NBA is fantastic and with these guys its just getting stronger. (edit) lastly I will mention, that it being "only" summer league is irrelevant. these guys are just great basketball players - you put them in any league and they will play the same way.
