I believe it was the drug culture. You can't stay ahead with talent if you let
talent run the show and turn a blind eye to what is going on.

Gary Patterson had TCU running down the tracks like a freight train. That 2009 team could have beaten any team in the country I think. They came into our stadium and basically left a crime scene. (I mean that as a compliment. It was brutal.) I was disappointed to see them get relegated to the kids table with Boise State that year in the BCS. I think the BCS knew that both teams could have beaten one of their prize fighters that year so they took an easy out.

Then TCU beat Wisconsin in the 2011 Rose Bowl, they made a statement that they could play with any big dog from any big conference. They had also showed sustained success at a high level. Then they went to the Big 12.

Then I think the marijuana and exposure as a high level program started catching up to them. But Patterson did an amazing job of building that program into a power playing team.
