The rumors started running that there would be a vote on Tuesday (IIRC) to see if the Big 12 should consider expanding. Dennis Dodd said that it wouldn't even be a topic of discussion at the meetings. The insiders were correct and they voted to explore it. Dodd looked foolish. Insiders gave us hope. I was 99% sure we were in. I was elated. It was a lot of fun while it lasted, but I am glad we don't have to go through that EVER AGAIN.
