BYU needed a name to get the fans and donors energized.
Short of Andy Reid, the only realistic "name" out there that would do that was Ty and it worked.
I am going to make a bold prediction: Before the 2018 season ends fans will be back to worrying that Ty Detmer is going to get stolen away by a bigger program. He is changing the offensive culture and before year 3 is over it will have happened to great success.
