I'm tired of the "Independence is meaningless after 2 losses" argument

In all reality, there are about 15 teams total in college football that stand a chance at getting to the CFP year in and year out (Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Clemson, USC, Auburn, Florida, Notre Dame, LSU blah blah blah you know the rest). For the other 100+ teams in college football, they will never EVER see the light of the the College Football playoff. The fact of the matter is you need to go undefeated or have 1 loss to a top team to even be considered for the CFP. Same thing goes for NY6, except for rare circumstances where a 2 loss team can sneak in depending on SOS.

It doesn't matter if you're in the MWC or Independent...at the end of the day you just need to win games to get into a major bowl. "But wait" you say "Our chances of going undefeated or finishing with 1 loss are greater in the MWC!" Really? Are they? Ask the 2006-2009 teams how that worked out for them. Fact of the matter is, it's HARD to go 12-0 or 11-1 no matter how easy your schedule is. And if you go CRAZY easy like Marshall and finish undefeated, you get left out anyway. If BYU ever wants to get to the next level and make a couple NY6 bowl games, they need to follow the wise words of Al Davis, "Just win, baby." And I for one would rather watch BYU attempt to "Just win, baby" on ESPN and make more money that comes with Independence, rather than watch them (or not be able to watch them) on some crappy second-tier TV network.

And as for people that like playing for a conference championship I say "been there, done that." What does it even mean to win the MWC? Another Las Vegas Bowl? Who cares. It's P5 or bust for me, and until then, I will enjoy Independence and watching BYU be able to bring in teams like USC, Washington, Utah, and Boise State all to Provo in the same season (see 2019).
