If games like LSU teach us anything, it's that we can't compete with P5 schools.
We can compete with the P5 bottom feeders, but we'll never be able to compete for P5 conference titles. We will never have access to the quality and quantity of recruits available to competitive P5 teams. We scheduled Portland early in the schedule, because we wanted a can't lose game to start off the season. That's the same reason LSU scheduled us. We were the Washington Generals. I would rather be competitive in a G5 conference than be a goat in a P5 conference.

You have to take the statement in context. The context is competing with P5 schools as an independent is not sustainable
