but when fans don't care, and they wouldn't, we'd be like weber state eventually
and most schools like weber state, who aren't in the big show, are there solely because of subsidies. the church won't subsidize a program like that.
i'm not saying this is going to be a church decision. it'll be made by the fanbase as a whole over time, and the church will be forced to cut the program. its already happening amongst the fanbase. the majority of the state is red now. the slide will continue until the point that the church just pulls the plug. what'll be sad is that it'll hardly be noticed on the national landscape because we won't have been relevant for 15 years. will be a quick 2 min story on espn about the sad state of non p5 programs dying.

You have to take the statement in context. The context is competing with P5 schools as an independent is not sustainable
