Certainly there has to be a guess as to the upside of a player when recruiting -
is the player near their talent ceiling as a HS kid? Or is he a hs kid who is decent but has upside? I'd bet we all remember the guy from hs who was a really good player as a freshmen or soph and expected to continue to dominate and then just plateaued since they hit their athletic ceiling. Most of us probably saw guys who starting coming into their own as seniors or who experienced a growth spurt.

I know nothing of any of these kids, but would say its a very difficult balancing act when looking at a kid who doesnt have elite athleticism, can that kid do anything at the next level?

Cahoon is the perfect example of a guy who exceeded expectations. I still remember talking to his brother numerous times and being told "Oh my brother Ben is amazing, he is killing it at Ricks and is going to play at BYU" and then thinking, "uh, your his brother and biased andyou already told me he is 5'9 and not the fastest guy, so I dont think BYU will be signing up guys like him." Of course I was wrong, but for every Cahoon type who succeeds, or Falslev or Nate Mikelson there are a ton who don't.
