I think it was meant in jest. I know that is what the meme was intended as well. But your reaction to

the joke is just giving credence to the meme lol. Rather than get defensive, as simple sarcastic "you got me", or "do you think it will ruin my chances?" would end it with a chuckle for all. I like to think of the joker in situations such as these...Why so serious?
