There was no better time to be a mormon kid from So Cal than the 80's.
It was cool to be Mormon, instead of the stigma it is today. BYU Football was at its peak including the 84 NC. The Showtime Lakers we're a once in a generation dynasty. The Dodgers had the iconic Kirk Gibson world series. Heck even the Raiders we're winning Super Bowls in the 80's. LA even hosted the Olympics which the US dominated. My how things have changed. Since then only the Lakers we're able to make it back to the top after all these years, and look where they are now.

I was a kid in socal in the 80s. I had no clue about byu (my parent's fault) and it was decidedly uncool to be Mormon
