So we've never made this mistake. But when a person consumes alcohol or other drugs, judgement is impaired and people do things they wouldn't otherwise. Carrington did something stupid and could have hurt someone. Thankfully he didn't get in an accident. But this is a common mistake for young college students to make. Why is it slimy to play him so soon after his mistake? Or why is it slimy to bring him on your football team. He's not a rapist, like Baylor was taking in.
To me it seems like Utah was very smart in bringing him in. They gave him a second chance, and they won the game because of him. Specifically because of him. I know Huntley was great as well. I'm all about giving people second chances, and forgiving them for their faults. I wish BYU was more like Utah in that respect. We would have had Francis Bernard in the game. Possibly picking a pass and returing it for a winning touchdown. Instead we are in punishment mode. We always want to punish these players for everything they do wrong. And this hurts our team. More than anthing our players or coaches do not do, this attitude hurts our team.
I don't think it was slimy. I think it worked out for both Carrington and for Utah.
