Question for the musically inclined CBers... particularly if you know pianos.
Realizing this is a subjective thing but we can either restore our piano or replace it.

Current Piano is a 103 yrs old upright, needs about $7k-$10k to bring it back to mint, but still plays. Need new hammers, recovered keys, etc. Probably some new board inside too.

Or replacement with a grand or baby grand, a lesser Steinway Brand or Kawaii, $17k-$20k.

I lean toward a grand or baby grand because that is what I grew up with but really I am not a piano aficionado. Will a restored piano, with that older wood, give me a better sound and similar longevity? Do the grands and baby grands give some advantages (besides less floor space ) that we'd be missing with an upright?

Educate me please.
