I agree. Also, one additional question.
When do the scandals and high cost of athletics finally take their toll and these universities that are barely breaking even decide to do something more drastic?

The college presidents cannot keep up with the arms race that is driven by the top 15 teams but causing the bottom 100 to continually beg their state and alumni for more money in a race they cannot win.

One day the 90% will revolt against the 10% I believe and college athletics will take a long hard look at this monster. While there will be some teams that will adopt a semi pro model, I believe the vast majority will step back.

This is an insane arms race where there is no finish line nor winner because everybody is a season away from a good year or a bad year. Those that compete at the highest level know they are dancing with the devil.

Very few teams are breaking even. Every extra dollar that is made is plowed back into the insane arms race of facilities and salaries. Education is not improving nor is the cost of education. I know as a Utah voter I do not want any money subsidizing any athletics either directly or indirectly through tuition or state subsidy.

This insanity needs to end and it will take the 90% to make it happen. The answers will not be simple because there is so much money on the table but what we have now is truly upside down.
