last year, the only reason we got to 9 wins was because 2 bronco recruits (taysom and jamaal) that happened to also be the greatest athlete to ever play the QB position and (arguably) the GOAT BYU RB willed them to 9 wins.

many on here wondered how taysom won the job coming off injury in an allegedly pro-style, pass-happy offense...now it's EASY to see. ty's offense sucks and the ONLY time it looks half decent is when you have an athletic QB that can improvise on the spot to cover up his deficiencies. (see taysom and, to a lesser extent, hoge) tanner was the best freshman QB BYU ever had. was he perfect? heck no. but, under other coaches he would have made an improvement this season after sitting. under ty...he looks worse. not a surprise though as taysom looked worse too. notice a trend? it doesn't matter who we put under center...they look bad. and it doesn't matter what team we're playing either. that's a sign the SYSTEM is bad, not the players.

bronco consistently recruited in the 50's and 60's (ranking wise). this never changed during his 10 years here. he consistently won, on average, 9 games per year with those guys. he figured out a way. he had a defensive machine he would plug new players into a run really well. he was more flexible on O, changing several times to adapt to new players. either way, he made it work with what he had.

and THAT'S the difference so far between the two staffs. one still got results, the other has no clue what they are doing and some of the fans are buying into the false narrative that bronco left the cupboard bare. LOL. you had the GOAT at RB and the biggest athletic freak to every play QB for your first year and you had an elite-11 MVP, BYU record breaking freshman QB in your back pocket for years 2-4. these players look bad because the system they are running is failing THEM, not the other way around.
