I see it a lot of reasons we can blame for team performance this year. If schedule is really the reason for a 6-game losing streak then we assume BYU has reached its potential for talent and coaching and should just go to AAC because it can't even compete at a P5 level.
I don't buy it. I think BYU is struggling first in coaching; a distant second is roster. Losing is ok when you have a tough schedule. Sometimes you just run into a team with better talent, and more resources. Looking inept with a tough schedule is not acceptable if you want to claim P5 equivalency(unless you're Baylor, or Rutgers).
Hoping 1 more year of coaching experience makes a big difference in 2018. I was patient with Bronco when things were't at their best because I had confidence he could produce wins with a less than stellar offense(an under-valued skill). I'm not convinced the new staff can do the same yet.
