the reason I didn't give it any thought is I had no idea such a statement existed prior to me getting a vasectomy. It never once crossed my mind that the church would have said anything about it, nor have I ever heard anybody mention this provision of the handbook outside of CB discussions. my wife and I prayed about it and felt it was the right thing to do, so we did it.

the fact that it has never been talked about in any church meeting in my lifetime leads me to believe that Church leaders do not actually consider it very important. Thus I do not think the decision needs to be reconciled with anybody outside of your spouse and the Lord.
