You cannot start talking to replacements BEFORE firing a guy. We all want Detmer to be treated right. Talking to potential replacements before telling Detmer that he’s fired? That would be a huge insult, Detmer should know first. That’s the first step. But before he fired Detmer, you know he had a short list which he is working on now. This job is a tough sell; it may take a while. But to say he had no plan just because we don’t have a replacement yet? It’s short sighted; use your imagination.
