Had he won that game, even with a 5-8 record... Detmer is still around, with all the warts this offense had. But that UMass game can't be over looked when you add in everything else. It was a disaster and this season especially showed more than anything, where coaching absolutely had to matter, that Detmer wasn't/isn't ready for that role.

Detmer may very well be ready for a QB coach role... but he was not ready for the OC role and it showed. There is nothing wrong with saying that, admitting it and being completely honest with it. You are spot on Bcriddle.
