I happened to get on Facebook a week agoish, which I seldom do, and my news feed showed me a post from my teacher with her family at Monticello, which is just a half hour away from us. She and her husband were both teachers at my high school. Shoot, one year they practically raised me, as I was in 2 classes from both of them.
By that point in their travels they'd made it to Williamsburg, but through a quick text conversation, we planned a meet in the middle for lunch on their way up north.
So surreal to catch up. Their daughter was with them, and she was just a baby when I moved away. Now she's a junior in college. I told them it's ridiculously unfair that the both of them look exactly the same, but I have gotten old and fat in the same time.
When I so seldom get to meet up with friends from home, it was a real blessing and treat to catch up with people who had such a tremendous impact on my life. He was my sciences teacher, and I told him it's all your fault I became the engineer I am. He looked pleased.
Good people. Fun to introduce them to my horde, and live in the past for an hour over lunch.
