To see what a coach like Nick Saban could do at BYU? Other than the head coach being active LDS, this includes all of the restrictions which the coaches and players currently have at BYU. Honor code. Independence. Lack of diversity. Limitations on resources. Missions. Everything. It also assumes that Saban would be able to get up to speed on all of those restrictions and honor them to the extent he is required to by BYU. It would also include BYU's built-in advantages, such as national recruiting reach (for LDS kids), missions, BYUTV, ESPN contract, etc.
This would be a fascinating experiment. Among other things, it would reveal what BYU's true ceiling is in today's college football world.
I'm curious what people think would be BYU's ceiling under this scenario? I believe it would include multiple NY6 bowl games over a period a years, with a possible berth in the CFP, especially if it expands to 8 during this time. I don't believe a NC is realistic, however, given the built-in restrictions and limitations.
