I don't want to make this just about Cannon vs Hardnett--but I'm not convinced that the coaching staff really buys into analytics.  Hardnett, for example, "looks" quicker, "looks" like a better ball handler, etc--but the analytics just don't support what we think we see.  In my opinion, a team like BYU needs to strongly consider being all in on analytics.  Maybe you do have a different starting line up every game, maybe you recruit a different type of player than you have in the past, maybe you have two lineups you shuffle in and out kind of like hockey--that's the kind of thing happening in baseball.  Just something that is interesting to me.  I think BYU could become the Houston Astros of college Hoops and see more success (and maybe a lot more success)--not just say they look at advanced analytics and then do the same stuff they've always done (you could make a stronger case for Hardnett being off the team than for him starting based on advanced stats).
